Room for Rent [Tuesday - December 30, 2008 | 1:52am ]

Room for Rent in a 4 bedroom house in Clifton (5 minute drive to Montclair State Univ.)
Rent: $320/mo after split 4 ways.
Deposit: month & half's rent (about $480)(so basically it is like $800 to move in as you would be paying your first months rent as well... depending on the date you move in)
Utilities: PSE&G in the winter highest is about $80 each person, internet is about $10 per person (Verizon FIOS).
Close to NJ Transit both local and NYC buses.
Close to shopping center (we are located on the street behind Big Lots on 46W.)
No Pets per our lease.
Moderately clean.
Room is on second floor.
At current moment, there is no smoking in the house but that will be changing in about a month and smoking will be allowed in bedroom but not common rooms.
Not too big on parties yet at the same time, we don't mind if you brought friends over and stayed in the living room (especially me since I am downstairs and can hear everything that goes on in the living room... nothing bothers me).

This house is a very open-minded house and we respect everyone, that is all we ask of the person (well that and pay bills on time).

If there are any questions, you can comment to this post or email DarkMindedPromotions@gmail.com

Parking is up...ish.

I'm a graduate student, and it says that all I can purchase is a "Freshman/Sophomore Weekend Permit."

Okay, I have never had a problem with MSU, despite its numerous flaws. But this? Takes the fucking CAKE. I can't even get in contact with a human being down there, nor leave a voicemail, because their mailbox is full.

Should I just wait it out?

EDIT Problem resolved. :)

I don't know if there are any World/Inferno Friendship Society fans here, but I just found out that the band will be putting on three shows at Kasser Theater on September 19 and 20 (1 on the 19th and 2 on the 20th).

Since it's a Peak Performances production, tickets should be free for students, and $15 for non-students.

http://www.peakperfs.org/performances/World_Inferno for more information!

Also, e-mails about parking were sent out today. Looks like it's $265 to park in the transit deck, $150 for surface lots, $200 for residents, and $275 for the Red Hawk Deck.

Transit permits go on sale on Monday, August 11.
Surface Lot permits go on sale Wednesday, August 13.
RHD permits start sale on the 18th.

To all you 5th year resident students [Tuesday - January 29, 2008 | 1:13pm ]

[ mood | pissed off ]

As you may, or may not know, ResLife is continuing their never ending quest to screw the students living on campus at good ole' MSU. I've been emailing one of the higher-ups at ResLife because I heard that they are trying make all 5th year resident students live in the frigging Hotel. This was the latest e-mail she sent to me:

"Just like last
year, all 5th year students will only be able to select the Hotel as a
housing option within our housing system. Unfortunately we are no
longer able to accommodate all that want and need housing each year.
Thus, last year we were forced to make some changes to our process.
Among those changes were the following:

1. Current commuter students had to wait until all resident students
selected spaces.
2. All 5th year students are restricted to selecting the Hotel"

I'm stuck here for a 5th year because of the teacher education program, and they want to stick me in the Hotel? F*ck that! I know some of you on here are 5th year residents..so, if you've found some way around this, how did you do it? If you need to combat this problem still, we should go to ResLife is hoards and demand great justice for us 5th year seniors :)

What the fuck is going on with our channels? [Saturday - November 3, 2007 | 12:09pm ]

So, one day, I turn on my TV, and the channels are all different. Wow, that's weird. No warning. So I start to get used to Cartoon Network being all high and getting LOGO and TLC and things. Then today, I turn on my TV. Now Cartoon Network is channel 10, we get 80 million sports channels, and we don't go any higher than MSNBC. What gives?
1 · comment

[Thursday - October 25, 2007 | 4:30pm ]

[ mood | angry ]

To resident students:

Who the hell changed my channel lineup? I got back from class yesterday only to find that everything was jumbled up and different. My roommate worked it out today, and we lost a LOT of channels. This upsets me.

First off: the campus cable no longer carries Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, or the Discovery channel. I'm sure there are more I'm missing, but this is only what we've noticed. College kids watch cartoons. They're nice. They're non-offensive.

Secondly: we now get not one, not two, but at the very least SEVEN sports channels. Do we really need that many? Who watches ESPN Classic for anything other than American Gladiator? Also, we are now provided with whatever "TV One" is. Uh, what?

Thirdly: why couldn't they have given us channels that we might actually watch? I know there's a great majority of people out there who are upset that we don't get Bravo or Sci-Fi, and I'm personally irked that we don't get the Food Network. We also have been missing FX or Disney, and a lot of people watch those as well.

Lastly, a question: Whom may I direct my anger towards? This isn't a typical campus matter, so I doubt emailing housing or reslife will help any (not that it does to begin with, but...)

Any other input would be welcomed.

Does this mean I get it in the Parking Office when I get to school on Wednesday? And there was no confirmation page or anything like that, so is there anything else I'm supposed to bring along?

BUT my student teaching class got moved from on campus to on-site where I'll be doing my student teaching instead.
I'll only need to be on campus like...8 times the entire semester which is a waste of $106.
Basically, does anyone need a parking pass? I'm going to try to return it but if they're sold out and someone would like to buy one off me that'd be cool too.

Resident students - have your parking passes come in yet? I bought mine as soon as they were available, and I have yet to see it.

EDIT: I called Parking services, and they said that it was showing up that I'd paid, and that I should just keep watching the mail. If not, I should go in to pick it up. That makes no sense to me, seeing as how the previous year's permit expires on the 31st and I move in on the 2nd - is Parking open on weekends? And if not, and I get ticketed for parking without a tag for a day, will I be able to contest the ticket?

My brother is going to be a freshman, he said the permits already sold out in one day? Is this true?

I also heard only seniors can park on campus, if that's true then that's just crazy.

What is the deal with commuters? Do freshman commuters also have to park in the njtransit deck or is that just freshman who live on campus?

Any help would be appreciated. If the permits were sold out, does anyone have any tips on how to get them to sell us a parking pass for freshmen? You know, who to talk to, what to say to them, etc. Thanks so much in advance.
